First case of South Africa variant of Covid-19 and 7 of the Indian found in Bulgaria

The South Africa and Indian virus variants of COVID-19 have been identified in Bulgaria, analysis by the Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases shows on June 28.

The cases were confirmed from the analysis of 200 samples. In 8 of them, variants other than the alpha one (the UK variant) were found.

For the first time in the country, the South Africa variant beta was identified of the samples, and the Indian delta variant was found in 7 samples.

All 8 samples were taken and sent by "Pirogov" emergency hospital in Sofia between June 6th and 14th.

The person infected with the South Africa variant is a man between 30 and 40 years old, temporarily residing in the country. He was quarantined and has already recovered.

Two women and five men between the ages of 30 and 55 are infected with the Delta variant. Only one of them was hospitalized, the others were under home treatment.
