Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has identified three shipments of poultry meat from Poland contaminated with salmonella. The total quantity is 37,150 kg, including chilled whole chicken and 12, 900 kg. chilled chicken leg, BFSA reports on January 21.
The meat is banned and is not allowed to be traded on the Bulgarian market. The results of the samples were received on January 20.
It has been checked in connection with the Agency's increased control over consignments of poultrymeat and by-products originating in Poland destined for Bulgaria. The identified salmonella is from a strain that is not pathogenic to the human body.
A Rapid Food and Feed Notification System (RASFF) notification has been prepared to notify the Polish competent authorities of the identified contamination.
At the beginning of December 2019, the agency identified that more than 100 tonnes of salmonella-infected chicken from Poland reached the Bulgarian market.
