Former finance minister Stoyan Alexandrov has been charged with exercising banking activities without licence, Bulgarian Prosecutor’s Office said on 22nd of February. Alexandrov has been granted a bail to the amount of 100,000 BGN.
The check against Alexandrov began in September 2016 on usury signals - for giving loans as an individual with hidden interest.
The charges are 2 for a total of 75 credits to individuals and legal entities, in the period 2002-2015.
Stoyan Alexandrov confirmed for the Bulgarian National Television that charges were pressed against him today. the only thing he said that worked in compliance with the law and refused to comment on the case on the grounds that he was not familiar with it in detail.
Alexandrov was a finance minister in the period 1992-1994 in the government of PM Lyuben Berov. Currently, he is a municipal councilor from the list of “Movement 21”.
