Strong wind and hail strom hit the town of Karnobat (South-East of Bulgaria) late on 17th of May. The torrential rain lasted for 15 minutes. The streets are flooded.
The hail damaged the roof of Hristo Smirnenski school in the town, the mayor of Karnobat Georgi Dimitrov told BNT. The ground floors of the houses are flooded.
The schools in the town cancelled classes on 18th of May. Agricultural crops and the cherry fields in Aitos region have been severely damaged, Vassil Edrev, mayor of the municipality, said. There is a n alert for two fallen trees. There are no power outages. A committee including representatives of the municipalities will assess the damages in the gardens.
