Doctor Milan Parvanov, the head of the ward of anesthesiology and intensive care at “Ivan Skenderov” Hospital in the town of Gotse Delchev. Blagoevgrad district has died of Covid-19.
Dr. Milan Parvanov died at Pirogov Emergency Hospital in Sofia, where he was hospitalized.
His colleagues say that he was an exceptional professional, dedicated to his work and treated patients with coronavirus until his passing.
In the recent months, Dr. Parvanov has repeatedly stated that the situation in Gotse Delchev is worrying. In September 2020, Gotse Delchev region saw an increase in Covid-19 patients and the hospital was overloaded, admitting patients in serious condition. Dr. Milan Parvanov has often stated that there is a shortage of medical personnel throughout the country to fight the virus.
At the moment, it is not clear who will take over the intensive care unit at the hospital and how the shortage of medical staff in the ward will be resolved.
Dr. Parvanov cared for his patients around the clock, including patients with Covid-19.
At the same time, doctors at the General Hospital in Gotse Delchev are worried that the intensive care unit is left without an anesthesiologist-resuscitator.
Currently, several doctors from the hospital in Blagoevgrad travel to Gotse Delchev to provide medical cover. The problem with the lack of staff, however, is getting bigger, and all the beds in the infectious ward are occupeid.
