The head of the Local Taxes and Fees Directorate in the municipality in Nessebar, Pascal Apostolov, was detained for alleged vote buying, BNT has learned.
Before the local elections in 2019, when the mayor of Nessebar was arrested, there was evidence that Apostolov was also involved in the scheme. Not enough evidence was gathered about him at the time and he was only questioned as a witness.
Yesterday, however, police arrested Apostolov after receiving a tip-off that he was again involved in a vote-trading scheme for the upcoming local elections on 29 October. 185,000 euros and 25,000 BGN were seized from his home.
