Sofia regional health inspectors handed fines to 24 MPs on July 2 because they did not comply with the Health Minister’s order for compulsory wearing of protective face masks indoors against the spread of Covid-19.The size of the fine for each MP was the minimum provided for by the law, 300 BGN. The fines were for the past week.
Six MPs from the senior partner in the government coalition, GERB were fined, deputy chair of GERB Parliamentary Group, Krassimir Velchev said. If someone makes a mistake, they will have to take the punishment, he added.
Three MPs from United Patriots alliance, the junior government coalition partner, were fined. They were all from NFSB party, a constituent member of the alliance.
The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party, said that they had no information about the fines because its parliamentary office had no MPs at the time of the health inspectors’ visit.
The independent MP, Pavel Shopov, was also fined.
