A massive rescue operation in search for of the missing Bulgarian climber Boyan Petrov is planned for today, 11th of May, in the Himalaya mountains. It will include Nepalese helicopters.
The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Beijing was informed in a telephone conversation with the manager of Simrik Air Pvt. Ltd. that according to the plan, a total of three helicopters (fully equipped for rescue operations) flew from Kathmandu Airport at 8.30 am local time (Nepal).
A third helicopter remains in Nepal near the border for the supply of fuel to the two helicopters that will carry out the rescue operation.
Bulgarian embassy in Delhi has received additional information that the helicopters have reached near the top of the peak and are waiting for the wind to calm in order to fly to the necessary altitude.
The rescue teams include experienced pilots and mountaineers, including people who are well aware of the area of Shisha Pangma from previous ascents.
