Increase of doctoral scholarships in Bulgaria

Тhe scholarships for PhD students will be increased by 3 million BGN per year, said the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev at a briefing after the regular weekly government meeting on 15^th of August. In addition, the ministers have approved extra money for national research programmes as well as for the budget of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and state universities.

Krasimir Valchev - Minister of Education and Science: The programmes are worth 61 million BGN. Most activities have an implementation period of 3 years. Some of the funds are for the fourth and fifth year. For this year, 18 million BGN will be spent for launching and implementing these programmes. In addition, the decree for doctoral scholarships provides one and a half million BGN, which is for half a year - from July 1st this year - on an annual basis this will be 3 million BGN.
