They are dissatisfied with the insufficient funding of the sector and the low compensation for theculling of the animals affected by the plague in Yambol and Bourgas regions, South Bulgaria. This is their second protest. Last week in village of Sheremetya, Veliko Tarnovo, the farmers asked for resignations of the Ministry of Agriculture and more funding for the sector. Today, protesters from the region of Yambol joined them with appeal for higher compensations.

One of the organizers of the protest commented for BNT that the increase of “de minimis” aid to BGN 47 per sheep / goat for the breeders in the 7 affected municipalities in Yambol and Burgas is just dust in the eyes.
