Long queues of cars and lorries formed at Makaza and Kulata checkpoints at Bulgaria’s border with Greece on June 15, the day that Athens opened its borders to citizens of a number of countries,including Bulgaria,. Traffic was exceptionally busy all day long.
The queues at the checkpoints at the Bulgarian border began
forming in the early morning, with travellers not knowing that 7-day quarantine for entering Greece was cancelled as of today and that the Greek border opening was scheduled for 12.00.
The border opening was brought forward to 11am.
According to data from the traffic police, between 12 and 15 000 people crossed the border through Kulata checkpoint.
