Lorry overturned on “Trakia” motorway near Plovdiv

Overturned cargo lorry caused temporary traffic restrictions on “Trakia” motorway near Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv on 22^nd of June.

In the region of the 119th kilometer, in direction to the coastal city of Burgas, only the fast lane was open for traffic.

Traffic police patrols regulated the traffic. About six o'clock in the morning, a lorry drove through the crash barrier and entered the opposite side of the road, where it turned over and blocked both the middle and emergency lanes.

The driver is a 50-year-old Russian citizen who probably fell asleep on the wheel. The check of the tachograph has proved that the driver used all mandatory breaks. As a result of the accident, the timber transported by the TIR lorry was scattered on the road. No people or vehicles were damaged.
