174 are the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria on March 22. Most of the cases are in Sofia. There are no new cases registered in other cities.
The head of the national task force, Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, presented statistics on the percentage of those infected by age groups. Out of these 174 patients, only 24 were over the age of 60.
Data of the task force shows that the largest number of people infected with the coronavirus are at the age between 40 and 49. They are 29% out of the total, while the cases of the age above 60 are 17%.
Prof. Mutafchiyski said that the young people go through the illness easier, but they spread it.
He added that if the measures against the spread are complied with they would give results.
The measures in Bulgaria are restrictive because they limit the travel not only from district to district, but between cities. Special time corridors for shopping were established for people aged above 60. The shops and pharmacies work only with this age group between 8.30 and 10.30 am.
