Miners and energy workers staged a protest on March 15 demanding the preservation of coal mining and an end to carbon trading. The route of the vehicle procession started from Radnevo to Nova Zagora and Stara Zagora.
The protest was organised by the representatives of the newly established non-profit association "Miners and Energy Workers Together". Their main demands are the abolition of carbon payments from power plants in the Maritsa basin to the construction of a carbon capture plant.
This, according to the protesters, will give competitiveness to the pricing of electricity produced by coal-fired power plants and a competitive environment for electricity generation.
