Minister Zaharieva is in Vienna for the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers

Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ekaterina Zaharieva, is in Vienna to attend the informal meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers, which takes place on 30th and 31st of August. The main topics of the talks in the capital of Austria, which currently holds the Presidency the Council of the EU, are tensions in the Middle East, EU-US relations, and the European perspective for the Western Balkans.

The first diplomats of the candidate countries from the Balkan region are invited to the forum.

The surprise presence of the Turkish Foreign Minister provoked serious media interet. The meeting is hosted by Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Federica Mogherini.

We started a useful discussion on cooperation in the aera of defence and security in the Western Balkans. With ministers and NATO, we are discussing how to enhance security in the Balkans with our key partners in the region, Federica Mogherini said.
