Higher wheat yields are expected in Bulgaria this year in comparison with 2017. Over 88% of the crop will have very good quality, Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture Rumen Porozhanov said in the village of Zhelyov Voivoda in Sliven, South Bulgaria, where he opened the grain harvest campaign on 21st of June. Porozhanov attended a ceremony marking the beginning of the harvest in the wheat fields in the village.

The Minister of Agriculture said that 11.5 million decares of wheat will be harvested, million 150 of barley, million 850 of rape seed.
Porozhanov said that the applications for compensation from the hailstorms of the fruit growers are not many and mainly from Silistra region, North Bulgaria.
