There is a significant risk of avalanches in Pirin Mountain, Bansko’s mountain rescue services warned.
Only in the past week, there were two avalanches, and one took the life of a young woman on 17th of February. Mountain rescuers advise tourists not to underestimate the mountain and choose their routes carefully.
The highest risk of avalanches and the occurrence of incidents during this winter season is in Pirin mountain. The Mountain Rescue Service in Bansko warns that due to the snowfall that has fallen over the last few days and the high daily temperatures, serious conditions are created for the fall of avalanches.

On 17th of February, a young woman died after she was buried under an avalanche in Pirin. She was an experienced mountaineer, but the snowpack she was standing on collapsed, and the young girl found herself in the snow trap. Just a few days ago, in another incident, a snowboarder was buried in an avalanche in Bansko and was srescued after a few hours of surgery.
