Nine new cases of Covid-19 in Bulgaria were confirmed on March 12, the head of the national coronavirus task force, prof. Mutafchiyski said at the daily 5 pm coronavirus update briefing. He added that out of 99 samples, 9 tested positive.
The patients are from various age groups. All are in Sofia. The authorities are working to identify the people who were in contact with them, potentially up to 200 people.
The total coronavirus cases in Bulgaria are now 16. One of them died.
Two are part of a group of doctors who had been to congresses in England and Spain. The condition of one of them is satisfactory, the other one has bilateral pneumonia.
The patient in Pirogov emergency hospital in Sofia, who is the widower of the patient who died the day before, remains in critical condition. His condition has neither deteriorated nor improved, Mutafchiyski said. The condition of the first four cases of coronavirus registered in Bulgaria, two in Gabrovo and two in Pleven, does not show negative development of the symptoms.
