confirmed case covid bulgaria type flu rise

There is no confirmed case of Covid-19 in Bulgaria as at March 5. The results of 83 samples of patients with suspected coronavirus are still awaited. Among them is a Bulgarian who travelled from Sydney by plane, in which there was a person infected with Covid 19.

However, due to the Type B flu epidemic, beds in infectious wards in hospitals in the country are almost fully occupied.

The second wave of flu came a little unexpectedly and at the most inopportune time. There is an increased likelihood of cases of coronavirus occurring in the country and the bed spaces in the infectious diseases wards are already full. This is where those infected with Covid 19 need to be treated.

According to the health ministry, there are nearly 800 beds in infectious clinics in the country. If needed, they can be doubled in just 24 hours. One way is to transform other wards into infectious ones. A more significant problem is whether there will be enough specialists to serve them.

In Bourgas there is no vacant bed in the infectious ward, but there are 10 beds that are kept in case of coronavirus. In Shumen all beds are occupied by flu patients.

There are five beds unoccupied in Sliven - however, other places in the other two wards can be opened if needed. There are five unoccupied beds in an area in Pazardzhik. And for the whole Varna district, the unoccupied beds are 10.

The capacity in the infectious ward at the Military Medical Academy has already been fully occupied. They started trsnsforming the psychiatric clinic there, which will provide 40 more beds.
