Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held telephone talks on March 4. Merkel congratulated Borissov on the occasion of the national holday - March 3 and the celebration of 142 years since the Liberation of Bulgaria.

In this context, the German Chancellor emphasised Bulgaria's key and stabilising role in the Balkans and praised the bilateral political and economic relations that continue to develop in areas of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Borissov and Chancellor Merkel discussed up-to-date information on migrant pressure in the region and emergency measures that will contribute to security and stability. Prime Minister Borissov noted that one of the most important priorities of bilateral cooperation is precisely the interaction on security issues.

"Today, any fruitful partnership is important for the stability of the European Union. Together, we continue to work for peace and prosperity not only in the region, but also for the more dynamic development of our European family, " Borissov said.

Bulgaria and Germany have similar positions on a number of issues on the current European agenda, such as security, the need for a common European decision on migration management, enhancing effectiveness in the fight against terrorism, and other.
