Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the First Deputy Director General of “Rosatom” Kiril Komarov noted the successful cooperation between the Bulgarian and Russian parties in the implementation of the project to extend the life of the 5th and the 6th Block of “Kozloduy” NPP.
Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the First Deputy Director General for Corporate Development and International Business of The State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” Kiril Komarov noted the successful cooperation between the Bulgarian and Russian parties in the implementation of the project to extend the life of the 5th and the 6th Block of “Kozloduy” NPP.
As said by the Prime Minister Borissov, the extension of the exploitation period of the two power units of our nuclear power plant is one of the main priorities of the government in the field of energy. The preservation of the nuclear energy capacity will ensure the security of the Bulgarian energy system.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister briefed the Russian representatives on the decisions of the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers for the resumption of “Belene” NPP construction. The conditions made by the Bulgarian side envisage the construction of the plant together with a strategic investor, on a market principle and without granting a state guarantee.
"We welcome the decision of the Bulgarian government to resume “Belene” NPP project and we will be happy to help in its implemantation," said Kiril Komarov.
