The perpetrators and the organisers behind the assault of the famous Bulgarian investigative journalist, Slavi Angelov, were detained on April 22, BNT sources said. The operation is taking place in Sofia, in Cherkovna street.
Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev and Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Ivaylo Ivanov are on the scene.
The journalist was assaulted and beaten outside his home in Sofia on March 17 by two masked men armed with metal bars and knives. A third one was filming the attack.
At that time, police said they were pursuing several lines of inquiry but believe it was most likely connected with the journalist's investigative work. Angelov, who is an investigative journalist, is the Editor-in-Chief of weekly 168 Chassa,
Angelov was admitted for treatment in Tsaritsa Joanna Hospital in Sofia. He had stab wounds, a broken leg and facial bruising.
