President Radev with criticism to government after the EU Presidency

Review of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is the subject of a conference in Sofia today 3rd of July 2018, attended by the President of Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva.

In his statement, President Radev said that the Western Balkans are a priority of Sofia, but have fallen out of the focus of the EU partners. According to the head of state, important issues such as judicial reform have been put on hold, and the European Presidency has become a PR.

Rumen Radev - President of the Republic of Bulgaria: “Migration has revealed deep failures in the European Union that threaten its unity and highlight a number of institutional weaknesses. That is why the Western Balkans remained a priority of Sofia, but they have fallen outside the focus of united Europe”.

The forum also attended by the Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, who defended the government's position and pointed out that the biggest success of the presidency was that the theme for the Western Balkans has become a common European priority.
