President Rumen Radev on 5th of July urged Nikolai Kolev-Bosia to end his hunger strike. He wrote on Facebook that he had received a letter informing about Kolev’s protest against the "driving license sale scheme" and "serious corruption schemes" at the Automobile Administration Agency.
This letter was sent to the Prosecutor's Office, the President said, but said he would answer it publicly because it highlights an issue that is part of the big problem with corruption. The President calls on the Bulgarian institutions not to miss out on any one alert.
"Your desperate protest is an expression of the perceived indignation of corruption and the lack of clear will to fight gaianst it," Rumen Radev said.
"Corruption ... requires civic mobilization and integrity that you are giving an example of" the President said, and concluded that the institutions are now in turn for acion. Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski said today that he had already invited and heard Nikolai Kolev.
According to him, the system that provides the draw for the driving test is checked by the court and work with guaranteed security. Moskovski said he had called on Kolev to take care of his health, but he suspected that he was being used for political provocation.
Nikolay Kolev started hir hunger strike 23 days ago. Today, there was a protest outside Parliament in his support. This morning, Kolev was firm he would not stop the hunger strike.
