Livestock breeders from Yambol and the region affected by the animal plague blocked the Elhovo-Sharkovo road this morning. They demanded that the Food Agency withdraw the ban on the sale of meat and milk because of the heavy losses they suffer.
By order of the Food Safety Agency, the farmers around the outbreaks of plague in Bolyarsko were forbidden to let the animals to graze. More than a month they are staying in the barns, resulting in serious financial losses.
Because of the ban, there is no market for young animals and the purchase of breeding animals.
According to some veterinarians in the area of Bolyarsko there is no plague of small ruminants.
Complaints filed in July against the slaughter of animals were suspended by the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor's Office. Meanwhile, it became clear that the blood samples in the 20-kilometer zone around the outbreaks of plague had already been taken and sent for analysis in the laboratory.
