A protest organised by "Vazrazhdane" party demanding the resignation of the government blocked for several hours the centre of the capital on September 21.
Party members and supporters gathered at noon in front of the government building, where they called for immediate early elections. They then marched along the Blvd. "Tsar Osvoboditel" to the Ministry of Defence, where they demanded the resignation of the defence minister Todor Tagarev and threw eggs at the building.
The march then continued to the Soviet Army Monument, where protesters tore down the fence and clashed with police, who managed to push them away.
Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of "Vazrazhdane": "We are the last protective barrier against the complete destruction of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people. That is why we are here today. Resignation, trial and prison for the ruling national traitors.
The only thing they are afraid of is the Bulgarian people, and "Vazrazhdane" is the only Bulgarian political organisation in Parliament. There is no other.
And when “Vazrazhdane” starts to rule. I'm not saying if, but when “Vazrazhdane”starts to rule, these people will be held to account."
Shortly after 3.30 p.m., supporters of "Vazrazhdane" blocked traffic at the Eagles Bridge for a short period of time, then returned to the front of the Council of Ministers building.
