Protesters in downtown Sofia again demand annulment of elections

Members of the public on October 31 staged a protest in the centre of the capital Sofia demanding the annulment of the 27 October early parliamentary elections. The "Velichie" party held its national protest in front of the building of Parliament.

According to the protesters, there is ample evidence of vote buying and vote stealing, and a documented report will be filed next week. Ivelin Mihaylov, the leader of "Velichie", said he had received a threat from a mediator that he would be put in prison and his family would be crushed.

The protesters chant "Mafia" and "Bulgarian heroes" and acarry banners reading ‘3.999’. "Velichie" party demanded a parallel count and verification of the election results. The party remained below the 4 percent threshold for representation in Parliament with its 3.999% percent result or an estimated 21 votes short of the electoral threshold.
