Despite the bad weather situation, the railway infrastructure in the country is passable in winter conditions, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences said on 27th of February.
Seven snow ploughing machines and hundreds of company employees are clearing day and night in the areas with heavy snowfalls and winds. The machines are specially prepared to deal with snow drifts.
Employees clean with hand-made petrol-powered snow plows in the areas of stations and cabin areas, the information says. The operating staff is equipped with paddles, scrapers, icebreakers and all the necessary materials to clean the railway sets of points.
NRIC emergency teams are ready to respond in a timely manner in the vent of complicated situations.
