Reform for people with disabilities starts at the beginning of next year

Reform for people with disabilities starts early next year. This was stated by Ombudsman Maya Manolova in Varna at a meeting with the mothers of children with disabilities on 15h of August.

Changes are made for all people, not just for certain groups, Manolova said. The main part of the reform is the procedure for individual assessment of each person. Manolova also said that in 2021 the new Disability Agency will be set up, which will have a sufficiently high status to co-ordinate ministries in decision-making.

Maya Manolova, National Ombudsman: With entering into force of the Personal Assistance Act the financial help will be increased and assistance will be provided, according to the personal needs of the disabled person.
