Road Hauliers in Bulgaria Protest aganist Mobility Package

The day of the EU-Western Balkans Summit, 17^th of May, was chosen by the road hauliers for the day of protest against the so-called "Macron Amendment", envisaged to regulate the transport business in Europe.

Моrе than 180 TIR lorries and bus today blocked the left part of Tsarigradsko shosse Blvd., in the section between 7 km to Alley Yavorov in the direction to the Center. The protest is against draft amendments to the Mobility Package, providing for TIR drivers to return to their home country every three weeks, and those who are in Western Europe not to rest in the cabins, but in hotels. This automatically removes insurance for lorries and freight.

Road hauliers in 10 other Bulgarian cities and towns are holding protests.

In Sofia, the protest will go on as a walk-in procession, which will end in front of the National Palace of Culture, where hauliers want the leaders of Europe to hear them.
