Sharp reactions from the protest parties to the cabinet proposed by TISP leader Slavi Trifonov

“There is Such a People” leader Slavi Trifonov’s announcement on Facebook about his proposed government and its priorities has met sharp comments from other parties elected to the next Parliament.

With a new Facebook post, the leader of "There is Such a People", Slavi Trifonov, responded to the criticism that he proposed a cabinet without consultations, talks and debates.

"There is such a people" does not participate in any behind-the-scenes agreements and does not line up ministers in anyone's bunker, or in anyone's barn. And our proposal for a government is neither Borissov's nor Dogan's (in response to Hristo Ivanov, who said that the idea proposed by Trifonov led to suspicions of a behind-the-scenes deal with the Movement for Rights and Freedoms party). On the contrary, Borissov and Dogan are an unpleasant past and "There is Such a People" will work so that the model imposed by them is never repeated,” Slavi Trifonov said on Facebook.

As regards Nikolai Vassilev's nomination for Prime Minister and the suggestions for the connection with NDSV, Slavi Trifonov stated that all proposals of "There is Such a People" are based on expert qualities.

"We offer people who can do the job. And in the end, isn't that the only goal for a government? To get the job done," Trifonov said.

Speaking to BNT, Hristo Ivanov, leader of Democratic Bulgaria – one of the three protest parties, described the proposed cabinet as disrespectful to the people from the protests and to their vote.

According to Hristo Ivanov, it is not a problem for his party to remain in opposition to "such a puppet government that combines what legitimises corruption in our country - namely NDSV party with Boyko Borissov and MRF."

He stressed that Democratic Bulgaria has promised to ensure the management of profound change.

It's time to understand that the show is over. It is time for professionalism and representation of specific people who have voted for us, he said.

The co-chair of "Democratic Bulgaria", Atanas Atanasov, announced earlier on Facebook that he is convening a meeting of the national leadership of the party, together with the newly elected MPs, in order to discuss and decide on the party's participation in the leadership of the new National Assembly, for developing a position on forming a majority and on forming a government.

"... The formation of a government is a complex political task, requiring observance of constitutional procedures, seeking collective solutions, dialogue between political forces and consensus on the main political issues for governing the country. The hasty proposing of a controversial government creates a risk of undermining the dialogue between the political forces represented in Parliament to solve this basic task ... "

Maya Manolova from "Rise Up! Thugs Out!" said that they will propose a solution which will receive support among the Bulgarian public – namely that the caretaker cabinet should become regular and that he party receiving the cabinet-forming mandate takes this forward.

We will not support a government that will not address the problems of the Bulgarian people related to raising incomes, recalculating pensions, direct financial support for business from the state, support for families and children, support for electricity and heating bills, and clear commitment to judicial system reform, she said.

With nearly 100% of ballots processed, it is obvious that Slavi Trifonov will receive the first mandate to form a government. Whether it will be supported by other parties remains to be seen.
