Shopping malls to re-open Monday

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on May 15 held talks with representatives of large shopping malls and the Bulgarian Retail Association.

After the meeting, which was also attended by the Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev, the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov and the Chair of the National Task Force against the Coronavirus Gen. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, Borissov ordered that re-opening of the shopping malls to be organised to start on Monday.

The order for the re-opening will be issued by the Minister of Health later today.

The meeting discussed in detail the conditions under which the shopping malls will resume activities taking into account the measures against the spread of COVID-19 in the country. The contribution of the sector to the Bulgarian economy was highlighted, which raises the issue of restarting its activity.

The Prime Minister also noted that it is mandatory to continue to observe the balance between the gradual return to normal economic life and the implementation of anti-epidemic measures to maximize the protection of the health of the Bulgarian public.
