Six Bulgarian wines won the "Golden Rhyton" award from the international "Vinaria 2018" exhibition of the vine-growing and wine-making industry, the press center of the National Vine and Wine Chamber announced on February 22. Over 300 samples of Bulgarian and foreign wineries competed in the contest for the prestigious awards.
The drinks were assessed by a 20-member jury, with well-established tasters from the country and abroad.
30 samples from local wineries competed in the category “Recommended Wine from a Local Grape Variety”. The winner was the red wine “Mavrud” from Panagyurishte winery.
Special prizes for the best conceptual design of packaging for bottles and cans went to a series of low-alcohol wine drinks with natural flavours of coffee, cappuccino, cocoa, cola, strawberry, peach. They were presented for the first time at an exhibition in Europe, just after the premiere of the art bottles in New York.
The wine “Oscars” are presented at the Golden Rhyton Night at Plovdiv International Fair, which takes place on the first day of Vinaria 2018, the statement said.
