smolyan distinct tightens anti epidemic measures

The anti-epidemic measures in the South Bulgarian district of Smolyan will be tightened from Monday, the Regional Crisis Management Staff decided at a meeting on January 28

The headquarters met urgently due to the growing incidence of coronavirus. To date, it is 1,703 infections per 100,000 people and the district has already entered the Third Stage, according to the government's new plan.

There is a clear trend of increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases. There are twice as many registered cases of children and students. 70 percent of PCR tests are positive. Thus, the task force decided from Monday - January 31 to limit the capacity and working area in places that are important for public health to 50%.

This means limiting the capacity of all sites that work with clients. It also applies to restaurants and entertainment establishments, where minors will not be allowed after 22:00. However, their working hours will not be limited.

A new regime of learning is introduced for students after their mid-term vacation.

For the period 7 - 11 February, the in-person attendance classes for the students from 6th, 8th, 9th and 11th grades are suspended. For students in grades 5, 7, 10 and 12, the learning process remains in-person, subject to anti-epidemic measures.

For the period February 14-18, the in-person attendance classes for the students of 5th, 7th, 10th and 12th grades are suspended. For students in grades 6, 8, 9 and 11, the learning process remains in-person. Students from 1st to 4th grade continue to study in person.

Medical establishments and the pre-hospital care are getting overwhelmed. At present, out of 165 beds for uncomplicated Covid patients, 30% are unoccupied. Of the 11 intensive care beds, 4 are available. The beds are monitored daily and the number can be increased if necessary. Medicines and oxygen are provided, the shortage of staff remains a problem.
