Smuggled cigarettes worth more than BGN 920,000 were found in five premises in Sofia, the prosecutor’s office announced on 15th of August. The cigarettes were hidden inside timber, similar to the ones found a few days ago at the port of Bourgas.
Under the supervision and management of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Bourgas, five premises were searched in Sofia, Kremikovtzi district. There were 122,999 boxes of smuggled cigarettes, at the total value of over BGN 922,000. The cigarettes are from the Regina brand and have been hidden inside stored timber.
Smuggled cigarettes hidden in deliberately made wood cavities were discovered during a customs inspection of a container that was transported from a ship and delivered to Port of Bourgas on 1st of August 2018. They were 111,312 boxes totaling 834,840 BGN.
