February 4 marks 150 years since the birth of Gotse Delchev. Celebrations are organised in both Bulgaria and North Macedonia.

A joint celebration of his birth anniversary will be held at Gotse Delchev's grave in Skopje. A Bulgarian delegation led by Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska visitied Skopje. North Macedonia’s Minister of Culture attended the event. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani, and the Prime Minister, Dimitar Kovachevski, are out of the country.

Earlier today, the President of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, laid a wreath at the grave of Gotse Delchev.

There is an increased police presence around the Church of Sveti Spas, where the revolutionary's grave is located. Meanwhile, reports of planned provocations during the joint celebration appeared in the media in North Macedonia. At the moment the situation is calm.

The Museium of History in Blagoevgrad marked the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gotse Delchev with an exhibition dedicated to him.

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev and Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will join the celebrations in Blagoevgrad later this afternoon.

Today we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of the brightest minds in our history - the Bulgarian revolutionary Gotse Delchev, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Kiril Petkov, wrote on Facebook.

He is one of the symbols of the fight for freedom, an ideologue of the Macedonian-Edirne revolutionary liberation movement, PM wrote.

Gotse Delchev is an integral part of our common history with the people of North Macedonia. He is one of the personalities who make both nations proud, added Kiril Petkov.
