An International Conference on "The European Future of Transport in Central and Eastern Europe" will be held in Sofia on 15th of May. It is organized by the Union of International Carriers, and the main topic will be the proposed changes in the European legislation on freight transport.
The forum will take place a day after Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc and representatives of Bulgarian carriers discussed the problems with the so-called Mobility Package.
Yesterday, 14th of May, an agreement was reached on four specific points related to rest rules and the international posting of carriers, but the worry about possible bankruptcies remains.
The concerns are that if the new rules known as the "Macron Law" are adopted, they will destroy the industry, and the possibility of protests remains for 17 May, when the European Union - Western Balkans meeting will be held in Sofia.
