Sofia Tech Park, Bulgaria, hosts the first Balkan Hackathon "Breaking the Digital Borders" on 27th and 28th of June 2018.

The forum was attended by the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova and the European Commisioner Mariya Gabriel.
Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia: "You will all contribute to digital connectivity on the Balkans".
Mariya Gabriel, the Bulgarian EU Commissioner for digital economy and society: "These young people, who are part of the Balkan Hackathon, are now ahead of 169 million Europeans who do not have the basic digital skills. For a year and a half, The European Coalition for digital skills and jobs, which we created, has provided training for over 7.5 million Europeans".
Susan Feimova - Teacher of informatics at "Baba Tonka" Mathematics High School in Rousse, Northern Bulgaria: "What our team wants to create is a digital guide for blind people. The idea is to make an application that helps such disabled people to use digital technologies and to show that they can be part of the development of digital technology".
