In view of the complicated meteorological situation, the department of weather forecasts, NIMH, raised the warning code for Smolyan region to red. By 8 am on 28th of June, precipitation of 50-60 l/sq m was measured in the region, with further 20-30 l/sq m expected by the end of the day.
Code orange weather alert is in place for the rest of the country, except for Vidin region, where code yellow is in effect.
Smolyan municipality declared a state of emergency. The Cherna River has overflowed and flooded the building of the fire fighting service, public buildings, warehouses, private properties.
