The remands of five people from Mityo Ochite’ group are currently being reviewed

The Appeal Court is reviewing the measures of remand of five of Dimitar Zhelyazkov's group, arrested for racketeering and beatings. On Saturday, the specialized criminal court left them in custody with a permanent detention order "detention on remand".

The court session began minutes ago. All five detainees have appealed against their detention and asked the Appeal Court for more lenient measures. On Saturday, at first instance, the Trial Chamber found that there was enough evidence to prove that the five had committed the crimes they were accused of, namely, participation in an organized criminal group for the purpose of beating, racketeering, extortion, drugs and arson. They were left in custody, because they could hide or commit other crimes.

The decision of the second instance will also be final.

On Friday midnight, Dimitar Zhelyazkov – Mityo Ochite was detained at a hotel in Istanbul. He has been given a 30-day detention measure within which his request for extradition to Bulgaria must be considered.

On Monday, the municipal councilor of Burgas, Bencho Benchev was summoned to the Regional Investigation Service in Burgas. He was the one, who was renting the rooms in Istanbul, where Dimitar Zhelyazkov was detained.

The only one from the whole group to be sought is the municipal councilor from Nessebar Peyko Yankov, for whom a European arrest warrant was issued.
