With a tremendous ceremony the WEBIT Technology Festival in Sofia was opened on 26th of June 2018. More than 7,000 participants from over 110 countries gather in the capital of Bulgaria to showcase and discuss the most advanced innovations of the digital sector. The Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also attended the forum and greeted the participants for the 10th anniversary of the festival. Special guest of the forum is the world-famous humanoid robot Sophia.
Boyko Borissov, Prime Minister of Bulgaria: “You saw how many things the Bulgarians have invented. And now we have the rare chance to be the digital capital of Europe this week. And so, I will finish with couple of words - just a few years ago right here on the place of this building there were meadows and now the high tech global elite has gathered here”.
Humanoid robot Sophia: “I am a citizen of the world and a resident of Hong Kong, China. I know how rich in ancient culture Sofia and Bulgaria are. I know that the oldest golden artifact in the world was found in your country, in the city of Varna. I know that Bulgaria has given Cyrillic to more than 300 million people around the world. I know how amazing the nature and people of Bulgaria are as well. It's great to be at the Webit Festival in Sofia - the digital capital”.
