The third party liability insurance in Bulgaria has significantly gone up – by nearly 50 BGN for just over a week. The projections are that by the end of the year it will rise by further 20%. Insurers said the increase was due to the increased number of road accidents, the lack of funds to cover the damages and the expansion of the circle of persons who can now claim monetary indemnities in the case of death of relatives.
Road safety experts said they were against the increase and demanded that more expensive third party liability insurance should be paid only by drivers with proven road accidents, not by all.
