The lowest percentage of aging population is registered in Sofia City - 17% and in Varna District – 18%. Thus, with an average life span of 74 years and 9 months, Bulgaria has the lowest indicator among the neighbouring Balkan countries.
In comparison, life expectancy in Greece is 81.5 years; in Albania 78.5; in Turkey 78.1; in Romania 75.3; in Serbia 75.7.
