Traffic Restrictions in Sofia on 15, 16 and 17 May for EU-Western Balkans Summit

The EU-Western Balkans Summit will be held in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia on 16 and 17 May. In relation to the event, temporary restrictions for traffic and parking of motor vehicles will be introduced in several areas of the city. This may cause temporary difficulties to the traffic.

On May 15, today, the football match between the teams of Levski and CSKA will take place at the stadium "V. Levski ", which is also possible to cause some traffic disruptions.

Measures have been taken and unregulated processions will not be allowed in Sofia. Where such processions are formed and police orders are not implemented, all possible police powers, including the use of force, will be enforced when necessary to prevent offenses.

The Metropolitan Directorate of the Ministry of Interior ask citizens to show understanding for the inconveniences. Because of the expected traffic difficulties, it advises the citizens to use public transport as well as plan for longer journey times. Police remind drivers to strictly follow the instructions of police teams and drive with caution and at appropriate speed.

Parking and lengthy stops will be banned in several streets in some areas in Sofia.

From 8.00 am on May 16, 2018 to 20.00 pm on 17.05.2018 the entry of road vehicles on Astana Street between Bulgaria Blvd and the National Museum "Earth and Man" is prohibited.

From 8.00 am to the end of the event on 17.05.2018, vehicles are not allowed to enter Vitosha Blvd between Patriarh Evtimii Blvd. and Pencho Slaveikov Blvd, except for the vehicles of public transport.
