The staff of Vanya Grigorova, who according to preliminary data in the exit polls came second in the mayoral runoff in Sofia on November 5 said she will also wait for the final results before answering questions from journlaists.
Grigorova was nominated by the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the Levitsata! (The Left!) party.
"Thank you to everyone who came out and voted despite all the difficulties. We gave the citizens hope and offered them a path to freedom.
Votes for us were cast in hope, not disgust, to quote one of the "assemblage" leaders (referring to the informal coalition between the powerholders).
And despite all this, despite the smearing, we remain hopeful. The morning is wiser than the evening. We have nothing else to say today as there is no official results yet," Grigorova said.
Kostadin Paskalev of the “The Left” party called for waiting for the final results and then determining who won the election.
"I'm almost sure we will have reason to celebrate tomorrow," Paskalev said.
