Water prices are projected to rise by between 0,1% and 9% almost everywhere in the country from the beginning of next year, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) said on December 17.
At a public discussion today, it became clear that water prices will be increased in 24 places in Bulgaria. The highest increase will be in Kardzhali, Vidin, Bourgas and Sofia. The lowest increase is envisaged in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv.
A report that was reviewed at today's public discussion at the EWRC shows that, as of next year, compared to 2019, water prices in Kardzhali will go up by 9.26%, in Sofia-city - by 6.64%. An increase by 3.29% is envisaged for Pernik as well, where currently water restrictions are introduced.
For the districts of Kardzhali, Vidin, Gabrovo and Smolyan, the increase in the prices of water and sewerage services is between 6% and 9%. For Silistra and Dobrich, the proposed increase is 4.27% and 2.75%, respectively, according to the EWRC report.
Four districts - Haskovo, Targovishte, Kyustendil and Pazardzhik are without approved business plans and there is no upcoming price increase for them.
In some areas, such as Razgrad, the prices of water and sewerage services will be reduced.
