Accumulating snow makes the movement of vehicles difficult in the complicated winter situation across the country. Drivers are advised to abide by the winter driving guides and introduced bans, Rosen Rapchev, Deputy Chief of Road Control Department at the National Police Directorate, told BNT on 26th of February.
He recommends that drivers take extra care while driving during winter and not travel if it is not necessary.
If the trip is necessary, the vehicles should be equipped for driving in winter conditions. Motorists should make sure the car has a full tank of fuel and keep the windscreen properly clean. The Traffic Police teams, together with snow removal companies, will temporarily close road sections for plowing. Some sections is possible to be fully closed for traffic.
Here are more tips from "Trafic Police" for safe travel in complicated winter conditions:
- Keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front;
- Try to avoid harsh braking, acceleration or risky maneuvers;
- Drive at appropriate speed;
- Do not make risky overtakings;
- Allow extra time for your journey;
- Make sure you have your mobile phone fully charged in case of emergencies.
Traffic police have called for heavy goods vehicle drivers to be well equipped with chains and not to enter sections where traffic restrictions were introduced. Sanctions for entry into areas banned for traffic include driving license revocation and stopping the vehicle from movement for 3 months.Accumulating snow makes the movement of vehicles difficult in the complicated winter situation across the country.
