Bulgaria's Prime minister Boyko Borissov on 26th of July appointed Yanko Ivanov as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

He graduated in veterinary medicine at the Higher Institute of Zootechnics and Veterinary Medicine and later worked as Associate Professor and Director at the Central Veterinary Research Institute in Sofia. He was Deputy Director-General and Director-General of the National Veterinary Service at the Ministry of Agriculture, and later became Regional Coordinator of the Balkans for a project on "Prevention of the Bird Flu Pandemic" funded by the United Nations.
Member of the EC Scientific Panel on Foot and Mouth Disease and Deputy Chair of the Group's Executive Committee. He worked for 10 years as head of various projects funded by the EU to combat animal diseases in Serbia, Turkey, Kosovo and other countries.
Yanko Ivanov was an advisor to the Cabinet of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry since the beginning of July 2018.
