Thirteen illegal migrants, including five minors, were detained early this morning in Shumen, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior said on November 11.
At 5:50, a signal was received that suspicious persons were spotted on the pavement on Rishki Prohod Blvd. in front of the customs house in the city. Police teams were immediately sent to the scene.
Only one of the illegal migrants had an identity document.
The foreigners told the police they were from Afghanistan. They were detained for 24 hours. Pre-trial proceedings were opened for illegal crossing of the state border.
After being questioned and tested for COVID-19, they will be transported to a refugee centre.
