State of emergency is in place on 27th of June for the town of Kotel, Eastern Bulgaria, after the heavy rains that caused serious damages and floodings to the lower part of the city. No one has been injured.
Approximately 80 litres of rain per square metre fell last night, 27th of June. The river in the town overflew and flooded houses and streets. About 20 houses were flooded. People from lower areas of the town have been evacuated.
The overflowing river has also flooded a transit road that goes through the town and led to difficulties in the traffic. The torrential rain caused damages to the road surfaces. The mayor of Kotel called a crisis management team because of the situation.
